Idiomatic, Metaphoric, Obscure, Slang or Vulgar Expressions in English: The top, the bottom and a lot of the middle contains different types of expressions in English. These expressions can be put into three general categories: The top (elite/ italic), the bottom (slang or inappropriate/ bold type/ vulgar/bold blue/ cockney rhyming slang/ purple bold) and a little bit of the middle (standard or idiomatic/ normal type).
